When Vanderwende Farm Creamery approached Fridge in 2020 for a brand strategy session, a new relationship blossomed that would take us on a journey of storytelling and brand development.
This Delaware family-owned business had a rich history and deep knowledge of the dairy industry. Their story embodies the American dream – with William and Ellen Vanderwende starting this multigenerational company in 1954 with just $35, six cows and backbreaking work.
Fridge identified foundational brand elements like Vanderwende Farm Creamery’s point of difference and brand promise. These elements guided our efforts in revitalizing their brand identity, solidifying creative assets for ongoing use, and aiding the design of a new location.
This strategic partnership has allowed both teams to work side-by-side to build a brand that will last for generations to come.

Fridge’s relationship with Vanderwende Farm Creamery evolved as we formed a strategy to modernize the brand for future growth and development. The Vanderwende’s quickly became a trusted agency partner and allowed our team to spread their creative wings, resulting in successful marketing applications that drive sales and customer engagement.
From vibrant colors to a nostalgic, family-friendly look and feel, our team transformed Vanderwende’s website, packaging, ice cream truck, and Philadelphia store into what they are today.

While Fridge’s experience ranges from restaurant work to consumer product goods, our approach remains consistent. For Vanderwende’s, we learned the details of life on the farm, the ingredients required to make their ice cream and the relationship its loyal customers have with the brand.
This led to our work with Vanderwende Farm Creamery’s new location in Old City, PA which is bright and modern with a touch of whimsy. Fridge wanted to ensure the brand’s rich history was communicated to new customers. Their story wall can now be seen as the 4-foot display hanging on the entrance wall, showcasing old family pictures and the brand’s origin story.
