Champagne, Burgundy, Chablis and Chianti may disappear from menus and store shelves. The bottles and their contents will still be there, but they may end up with a different name if the the proposed Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership talks proceed. The fuss is over whether U.S. companies should be allowed to use famous regional European names for products not produced in those regions. Food and beverages seasoned with politics may result in “the wine formerly known as Champagne.”
